Big Brother 15: I Should Just Go Kill Myself... BUT FIRST I have some MAJOR NEWS!

www.YourRealityRecaps.com

So since you all seemed to like my last blog, I thought I’d give it another shot.  But buckle up people, because I’m going to let you into my head and WARNING that’s a scary place!  I want to share with you my feelings about this past week’s Big Brother (and I guess) the whole season in general.  I even have some BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS at the end as a reward if you make it through!  I’m not the best at writing… you could say I’m more of a Gina Maire than Ragan Fox when it comes to expressing myself.  But I care a lot about those of you who have supported me and my shows for the last three years.  So I want to share a personal side of myself with you all.

SIDE NOTE:  I put hyperlinks in this blog to enhance your reading experience.  So if you need a break to just laugh, click them.

Before I get into it, I’m going to put a disclaimer on everything I say going forward.  It’s undeniable that this season of Big Brother is hands down one of thee worst ever.  It was filled with the constant undertones of racist, homophobic, misogynistic and downright violent actions of (almost) every house guest.  It became a game of, “who will I kinda be ok with winning” instead of, “who do I want to win”.   That is heartbreaking for so many fans, myself include (as somebody who puts in fifteen hour days covering this show).  I understand and agree with you all… the personal attacks and the hateful speech is unacceptable.  There should be (and I think will be) real life ramifications and sincere apologies for it.  For some of them there already is.  But, this is a game.  So I am going to take the “personal” out of everything I say going forward and focus on the game moves.

This Thursday’s double elimination episode took out Amanda and Elissa… and caused an internet uproar that proved SOME “fans” of the show have evolved since the death threats made on Shelly Moores family.  I shouldn’t say “they were taken out” more specially, Andy took them out.  Now stay with me Andy haters, this isn’t all about him… just this next part.  I know Andy is seen as a floater and that that isn’t a “respected” type of game play amongst most fans.  However, I think being able to “lie” or “rat out” people throughout the game, constantly switch sides (when its best for your game) all while trying to keep everyone thinking that you are REALLY working with them is the hardest game of all to play.  But maybe that is just because I wouldn’t be one to dominate physical challenges.  Week after week Andy has voted out one half of the house, while remaining in the good graces of those left behind.  He has made deliberate choices of what comps to throw, what to “blame on” other people, and which side to go with each week.  And his “game moves” this past week (switching from Team McCranda to Team Exterminators) and then blaming the vote on Elissa to get into the final 3 was some of the best GAME PLAY this whole season.

The same could be said about Amanda.  While her personal attacks, at times hateful speech and abrasive personality were hard to watch… it doesn’t change the fact that she controlled and manipulated EVERYONE in that house to make the moves she wanted all season.  That is until Andy took over that over that job, and voted her out.  I feel like if this season wasn’t filled with such personal and hateful speech we would all be looking at these moves as great GAME PLAY.   For example, everyone makes fun of Andy “popping” up in every conversation…  I think that was brilliant.  He always had all the information he needed to use for himself, or against other people.  The fact that nobody stopped Andy from doing this isn’t his fault.  Team McCranda or Team Exterminators should had forced him to pick a side publically.  They each allowed him to play the other side, which in turn gave Andy the ability to play each side against the other.  That (to me) isn’t Andy being a “rat” that is GREAT game play on his part… or HORRIBLE game play on the parts of everyone else in the house.  I don’t understand why so many people want Andy’s head on a platter, or think he is a rat.  Just because he is playing a more “manipulative” or “floater” game doesn’t mean he is not playing… like say McCrae.

McCrae has hid behind Amanda this whole game.  He hardly utters more than, “like, I dunno, yea” over and over when talking game play.  He let Amanda run his whole game and on his one opportunity to get some power back (keeping Elissa… who I LOVE BTW) he proved he has no clue what is going on in this game.

Elissa was very entertaining to watch.  And while I do think she is one of thee kindest and most authentic people in that house her game was lacking.  She is no Rachel Reilly and that is not a bad thing.  She was at the top of her game with Helen, but it went downhill after her eviction.  This game pulls in all types of people.  That is what makes it so much fun to watch.  It is a reflection of our society that we get to see 24/7.   So I understand why we all as fans get invested.  It becomes part of our lives too.  But sometimes we as fans take things too far.

Since Thursday night, I have seen ex-housguests slamming the families of other houseguests.  I have read thee most hypocritical comments by many ex-houseguests regarding the game play of all current players.  I’ve heard people saying they are going to get Andy fired, burn Judd’s house down, and rape Gina Marie.  Hell people even told me I should go kill myself because I said Andy made a great game move this week.  I dont find jokes about death, murder, or suicide funny, ever.  I also find bullying for ANY reason unacceptable.  I even did a PSA website about it and my experiences (what these pictures are from).  But I won't get into any of that in this blog.  I should also note however, I was accused of only supporting Andy because we're gay… and you know we have an “agenda”.

For simply having a different opinion… I should kill myself.  Look, maybe I am just too open minded.  I’m ok with people having differences of opinion.  You don’t have to agree with me, I don’t have to agree with you… I just don’t think we need to rape, pillage and murder over it.  I could go on and on, but we don’t need to get into the topic of fandom and anonymity on the internet here.  I don’t understand why we can’t just all have opinions, and agree to disagree civilly.   Berating, attacking, or threatening people because they feel differently then you… is that really what Big Brother fandom has come too?  For example, some fans hate Spencer for being a loud and rude dickhead.  They express these feelings by being louder and ruder to other people on the internet… it just doesn’t make sense to me.

What is most upsetting to me is that these actions by fans is causing so many of us who create content for fans to stop.  The Big Brother House Rodent is done doing his videos, Jun Song has stopped watching completely, and even some of our very own stopped transcribing.  It kills me that this is what this season of Big Brother is going to be known for.

I don’t know what “the right answer” is.  I don’t think there is one.  We are all entitled to our opinions.  It’s just my hope that we can try and get back to doing so in a more respectable way.  And people I am not without blame here either.  Allow me to take a hard right turn here for a moment…  I realize that I make comedic video recaps… which call Jeremy a “super-douche”, feature Aaryn running over black and gay babies, and even mock the insanity of Gina Marie.  Some could even say I am promoting the violence I am speaking out against here.  In my defense I will say that I try to never make my videos personal.  They are merely a comedic reflection of what the Big Brother community is feeling that week

My goal with them is never to attack but instead show how ridiculously funny it is that we all think these things on my comedic video mashup shows.  Of course those of you who watch our Live Feed Breaking News shows, or Weekly Group Recaps with past houseguests get to see the more personal side of me and what I really think about the players and game this season. To that point, you may have heard that my YouTube was canceled this week as well.  This was for two reasons… 1.  It was hacked and used to spam people (says YouTube) after 2. Bravo filed a ton of copyright claims against me for using there theme song in my intro.  The latter was fault but it’s been resolved now.  It came at the expense of days worth of work, so I wont have a mashup show for you this week.  But we did do an INSANE weekly group recap for this week.  That said, if you want to help support me, and my shows please take a moment to re-subscribe to my all new YouTube channel, and add YourReality Recaps to your bookmarks.  Because if ever something like this happens again all my content will always be available on my website.  Ok, now back on track with some BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS & A TEASER!

So in conclusion, I just want to say I am not going anywhere.  I am here for the duration of Big Brother, and might even have a HUGE FINALE surprise for you all.  HINT:  It’s finale party related.  I will also be covering Survivor, and The Amazing Race (which are both starting in two weeks) with my short comedic recaps.  I will also be doing longer group recaps, and I’m happy to announce WERE GETTING EXIT INTERVIEWS FOR BOTH SHOWS!  The only difference is the exit interviews will be audio only, so you will have to be subscribed to my iTunes audio only feed (for iDevices) or RSS audio only feed (for any player) to hear them each week.  I’m assuming you knew we had that option to take our shows on the go… as well as the iTunes video feed, and RSS video feed.  See how awesome we are, we give you options people, and all for FREE!  So ya know… if you’re in iTunes and could rate us 5 stars and say nice things in a comment that would also be AWESOME.

I’ll end this with some bad news for some of you… unfortunately I’m not going to kill myself.  I’m not going anywhere.  I am going to continue to do what I love… creating funny content around my favorite reality shows and involving fans with them… because who else am I gonna talk to?  Hopefully you can come be a part of our community and interact with us on twitter, facebook, google+, or any of our various other social media websites.  To those of you who already do, you know I love and appreciate you so much!  To those who haven’t, come on down!  I do what I do for you all, and I believe together we can keep our little “Your Reality Recaps” community a happy place to laugh with friends about our favorite reality tv shows, have fun contests and prize giveaways, and get exclusive content you wont find anywhere else.

Don’t agree?  Well that’s fine.  You can have your opinion… like Gina Marie says, “No point intended”.

  1. I LOVE this line: "They are merely a comedic reflection of what the Big Brother community is feeling that week".

When I'm writing the House Rodent Videos or this Season's DUCK at NITE. I'm often fresh off so event in the house that has irritated me in some way. Usually by the time I get the video out whatever opinion that went into it (it sometimes takes several days to get videos done) has more often then not subsided.

Now has for being done making videos. I had always planned to take the season off. I'd been saving the DUCK at Nite idea as part of the untold story that went with my TAR 20 coverage that I never finished. (someday) I don't really have the time to do the BB coverage because as you know it's a HUGE time investment to do right. But I thought about DUCK at NITE and thought I could handle doing quick short videos. As the season has evolved the DUCK at NITE videos have become longer. I've been thinking about stopping for weeks, and well, with Elisa being evicted and the house being on rampant Elisa bashing. It just seems like the out I've been looking for. So the dicision to stop is as much about needing my life back as it is about the house full of rotting apples.
Plus this last DUCK at Nite is a good note to go out on.

Thanks for you support this season. I've really enjoyed filling the gaps on the feeds with your content. It's always fun to listen to.

    1. First, I didnt mean to imply you were "done for good". I couldn't imagine a BB season without your stuff.

I am so there with you HR! Back in the Superpass days I used to have panic attacks over getting a 5 minute show done in a week! Last season i did one show every two weeks, and this season... im doing my show, several live feed shows, and a group show that I have to schedule people for, as well as run 12 social media sites. I know you are in the same boat with your shows.

And hey since I lost all my subscribers... your videos are crazy out performing mine! LOL! Ive really enjoyed your shows too. And hopefully you will be back next season in one way or another. If there is anything i can do to help please just let me know.

    2. I swore I was done after season 12 but then Rachel came back for BB13 and then TAR, and now it's 3 years later an I still put out content even when I swore I was done. So Despite trying a lighter schedule I somehow I manged to put out more stuff then any prior season. As GM would say "It's Bananas". There are some things I'm planning but I'll need to finish my TAR20 coverage before next season to get the House Rodent story arc back on track.

  3. The mob mentality is very scary. I totally support your views as you tell it like it is without malice. The reactions to your discussions regarding game play are alarming. Everyone left is playing a good game because they are still there.

A lot of the BB house guests are fans and they probably want to be famous. Aaryn was playing as an overblown character and I really don't think she understood how out of control the situation would get given the Zimmerman case and the Paula Dean scandal as a backdrop to this season. It's easier to hate Aaryn than to address issues (Are you listening Julie Chen?).

Aaryn is a scapegoat and, for that reason, I feel sorry for her. She is young, naive and racist to boot, but she doesn't seem like a hate-mongerer unlike many of the angry BB fans. I doubt Aaryn makes death threats to people from social media accounts. Anyways, that's my rant.

Keep up your great work and stand strong!
